Soul/R&B singer Fantasia Barrino is thankful after giving birth to her second child. The American Idol season 3 winner gave birth to her first son, Dallas Xavier Barrino, on Tuesday in North Carolina at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and 21 inches long.
“I feel so blessed that my son Dallas Xavier was born healthy, and is a wonderful new addition to our family,” Barrino, 27, tells PEOPLE. “I thank all my fans for their well wishes and continued support.”
Fantasia confirmed her pregnancy back in July during a charity event for the opening of the Riverview Apartments in Jacksonville, Florida. She told event-goers, “”You are the first persons that I share this news with. And I share this with you, because I can relate to you.
She continued: “And for a while I walked around figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk. This child that I carry. God has given me this child. And I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”
Barrino has not spoken about the baby’s father, but the “Doin’ Me” singer has been linked to Antwaun Cook.
The new arrival will join big sister Zion Quari Barrino, 10.
