With the upcoming fifth season of BET’s show ‘The Game’ airing in January, reports have surfaced that a new star will be joining the line-up â Grammy award-winning star, Brandy Norwood.
Being no stranger to the TV world, the R&B singer is best known for her roles in UPN sitcom ‘Moesha’ and the VH1 reality show, ‘Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business.’ Brandy will be making her debut on the show as Chardonnay, a “sassy bartender” who will become a love interest for the character, Jason Pitts.
“With ‘The Game,’ I’ve joined the talented cast of a smart and entertaining TV show and I get to work with the amazing [show creator] Mara Brock Akil,” Brandy said in a statement.
According to a spokesperson for the show, Brandy will be a part of one of the “ongoing collision storylines of infidelity, ambition, secrets and betrayal.”
The new season will also feature guest appearances from Shawn Marion, Estelle, Selita Ebanks, DeRay Davis, Nene Leakes, Rockmond Dunbar and Loretta Devine, among others.
Brandy is also currently working on her new album, due out next year. She has been in the studio working with the likes of Timbaland, Frank Ocean, Sean Garrett, and R&B star Chris Brown.
Most recently, Brandy has been starring on the popular drama series, ‘90210,’ as the reoccurring role of Marisa Harris-Young. She will also be starring as Melinda in the upcoming Tyler Perry movie, ‘The Marriage Counselor.’
Season five of ‘The Game’ will premiere on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 10/9c on BET.
