Veteran R&B/Soul singer Lionel Richie is going back to his country roots for his next studio album. On ‘Tuskegee,’ due out March 2012, Richie, 62, will feature 13 duets of his biggest hits, including “My Love” with Kenny Chesney, “Easy” with Willie Nelson and “Hello” with Jennifer Nettles.
“I was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. I am a country boy and proud of it. To do this project just felt natural,” Richie said in a statement.
Richie will kick off promotions for the forthcoming album by performing some of the duets at the Country Music Association awards next month (November 9) including, “Dancing on the Ceiling” with Rascal Flatts.
Richie has earned five Grammys, an Oscar, and has had more than 20 top 10 hits in a career that started with Motown Records more than 40 years ago.
