Etta James Issues Final Release, Call it Quits After 5 Decades

Etta James’ music career has spanned over five decades with accomplishments including Grammy Awards, induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, entrance into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame amongst other accolades.

Now James plans to make her last run as she plots the release of her final album ‘The Dreamer,’ her first effort in five years.

“I wish to thank all my fans who have shown me love and support over all these years. I love you all,” said James in a statement.

The album will feature renditions of Otis Redding’s “Cigarettes and Coffee” and Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “Dreamer” to Ray Charles’ “In The Evening” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome To The Jungle.”

The album is scheduled for release on October 25, 2011 via Verve Forecast.
