Women may want to take advice from Erykah Badu on how to break up with a man. According to rapper Common, the “Window Seat” hitmaker broke up with him in a phone call, saying she had feelings for someone else.
In a recent interview with talk show diva Wendy Williams, Common opens up about his past split with Badu, insisting it was his first “heartbreak.”
“She handed it to me. I was in my hotel room on tour and… she called me and was like, ‘Hey, I don’t wanna be in this relationship no more. I’m liking someone else,” Common told Wendy.
“That was my first love and my first heartbreak,” he adds, but says he and Erykah are cool now and the breakup taught him a lot.
“It taught me a lot of things, and when it happened I kinda really got into myself and really learned about myself and I was able to move on, and now me and E is really cool,” he said.
Common and Erykah dated between 2000 and 2002. The two also collaborated on the song “Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip-Hop).”
