“My client rarely has a conversation with industry professionals where the tape has not been mentioned or questioned …. no amount of money can relieve him from this nightmare,” said the lawyer of singer Ray J. His lawyer’s written statement comes immediately after news broke via TMZ that an undisclosed private party has offered to buy the rights to the x-rated flick “Kim K Superstar” that former couple Ray J and Kim Kardashian starred in years ago. Steve Hirsch of Vivid Entertainment, the current owners of the rights to the infamous home movie, told TMZ it is worth at least $30 million.
Although Ray J is happy to have the tape sold off, he’s making sure his assets are covered as well. TMZ obtained a letter from Ray J’s lawyer to Hirsch which outlines his demands before the tape can be sold. Having partial copyright ownership of the sex tape, Ray J’s attorney makes it clear that “any attempts to transfer the copyright outside of these parameters will result in filing a motion with the courts to seen an injunction of any sale until Ray J’s rights are protected.” If you sift through the legal jargon, it’s easy to see that Ray J wants his money â as if he hasn’t made millions already off the tape.
No word yet from Kim Kardashian’s camp on how she feels about the selling of her notorious flick. Rumors has it that her camp is the anonymous buyer. This may be the reason she’s not screaming for a cut of the money.
