Despite the constant protesting and petitioning from fans, organizers of the ‘Michael Forever Tribute’ show stand firm behind their decision to not cancel the concert. Scheduled to take place October 8 at the Cardiff’s Millennium stadium in London, the tribute show has been plagued with issue that many see as a sign to cancel the event. From ticket problems, the signing of KISS, and even the public outrage of brothers of the King of Pop, Jermaine and Randy Jackson, all that could go wrong has. Nevertheless, organizers of the event, Global Events Live, are confident that the ‘Michael Forever Tribute’ will be a success.
Juliette Harris, a spokesperson from Global Events Live, told Reuters: “We are 100 percent going ahead. We will continue to announce names for the line-up. We are moving forward and now we will try to address issues that have been raised by fans.” However, according to a recently created Facebook protest group by fans, the show is “doomed to fail”. They have even gone as far as to write to Katherine Jackson in an effort to stop the show.
Could a concert with an all-star line up including Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Cee-Lo Green Smokey Robinson and more truly be doomed to fail? The scheduled performances coupled with the apparent love and reverence for MJ alone is sure to pack out the stadium.
Should Global Events Live respect the wishes of the fans and family of Michael Jackson or should the show go on? Thoughts?
