The early stages of President Obama’s re-election campaign for 2012 are underway.
Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson shows continued support for the President, who turns 50 tomorrow, by performing at his birthday fundraiser in Chicago, Illinois tonight (August 3rd). Other artists who will perform at the gala include Jazz legend Herbie Hancock and Chicago rockers OK GO.
Organizers expect a crowd of roughly 1,000 supporters, who each paid between $50 and $35,800 to attend. The money raised will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint account for Obama’s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
The president will also address the crowd around 8:15 pm ET.
Hudson has been a longtime supporter of president Obama, in 2008 she sang the national anthem at the Democratic National Convention at the personal request of President Obama.
Happy Birthday Mr. Obama!
