Brian McKnight – Just Me
Brian McKnight may have taken a short break to host radio and television but you knew he could not resist recording new music. ‘Just Me’ is a double disc of twenty-two songs, that include ten unreleased songs from his extensive catalog. Like Raphael Saadiq’s Stone Rollin’, McKnight is taking it back to the old school on the new project, channeling the influences of Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and The Temptations. Along with the release of the album, McKnight will offer fans a DVD of ‘Just Me.’
D. Woods – The Grey Area
After a few set backs, former Danity Kane member D. Woods takes her destiny in her own hands by releasing ‘The Grey Area’ on her record label WoodGrane Entertainment. Woods explained the album title as “The Grey Area is the area I have been existing…everybody is in limbo…you might find yourself unemployed or in between professions or you graduate from school and don’t know what to do. Or you are an artist like me who had to make a transition from label to independent situation.” Woods keeps the guest features to a minimum on the seven track EP. One on the few guest appearances is her sister
Shanell (of Young Money) on the “Foolish Dreamer” record.
Emily King – The Seven EP
After a short stint on J Records and a Grammy Nomination, Emily King offers fans another piece of her on ‘Seven.’ With the record label limbo behind her, King had full artist control on her soulful sophomore EP.
