Grammy winner Jill Scott and her husband of 6 years divorced in 2007 and she has been mum on the root causes of the split. But recently the R&B hitmaker opened up a bit, insisting one of the reasons her marriage ended was because her ex-husband, DJ and graphic artist Lyzel Williams, who she married in a private ceremony in 2001, stopped eating her food.
“One of the reasons my ex-husband and I broke up is that he stopped eating my food,” Scott told UK’s Guardian newspaper. “He was pissed (off) for other reasons, but the best way to show me was by leaving what I’d made for him uneaten for days on the kitchen counter. It was a smack in the face.”
Shortly after divorcing Williams, became entangled in a relationship with her drummer Lil John Roberts. The couple later announced their engagement and welcomed their first child ‘Jett Hamilton Roberts’ in April 2009 but they parted ways shortly after.
Scott’s fourth studio album ‘The Light of the Sun’ hits stores today (June 21) and is lead by the single “So In Love,” assisted by R&B crooner Anthony Hamilton.
