Sometimes I Cry singer Eric Benet has taken a project outside music; he landed the lead acting role in a filmed entitled “Trinity Good Heart.” The faith-based drama was written by Rhonda Freeman-Baraka and Benet will play the father of a twelve year girl who sets out to find her estranged mother and reunite her family.
Benet appeared on camera in “For Your Love,” “Glitter,” and “Half & Half” but “Trinity Good Heart” was the first time he was fully engaged in the acting. “This is the first time where I guess I took (the acting) seriously. I took some acting lessons, and it was quite an exercise and emotional exploration and something that I might want to do again, depending on if people think I was halfway decent enough or if something else comes across my manager’s desk or in my inbox. We’ll see,” he said to Billboard.
The film debuts at the American Black Film Festival in Miami on July 9th and shortly after that it will air on the Gospel Music Channel.
