Singer/Songwriter Rico Love has had mega success penning records for stars like Usher and Kelly Rowland but now he has his eyes set on breaking a newcomer.
“My heart and soul is Sofi Green because I feel like she’s the female version of me,” Rico tells Singersroom of his new artist, who is signed to his Division 1 imprint. “She does it all, there is no way to classify her genre of music, she raps, she sings. There’s no rules for her so I’m excited about the project and I’m excited to see what she’s gonna do.”
Rico’s excitement has trickled down to Green, who is ready for the challenge and the benefits. She tells Singersroom, “No Pressure, I don’t really feel pressure, I work really hard, I do everything I’m supposed to do so basically everything will fall the way it’s supposed to.
She Adds: “I think I have my own laneâ¦My music is a hybrid of genres with Hip Hop, R&B, very forward progressive pop music and Euro-pop, so I definitely think I’m creating my own sound and thanks to Rico I’m going to stand out.
Along with Rico’s guidance and industry experience, Green also plans on drawing inspiration from several artists who influences her sound.
“Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Gwen Stefani, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, I’ve had all kinds of influences,” she says. “Definitely Beyonce, her work ethic is inspiring, I’ve never seen anyone work the way she does.”
