British soul crooner Adele held off a ton of newly debuted albums this week to land her seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her sophomore effort, 21, moved another 155,000 copies and according to Billboard, the set marks the second-longest run atop the list for an album by a woman since 2000 next to only Taylor Swift’s 11-week reign with “Fearless” in 2008 and early 2009.
One of the new entries that Adele rolled over is Jennifer Lopez’s latest album, Love?’ which debuted at No. 5 with 83,000 copies sold.
“The Ultimate Collection,” Sade’s second greatest hits release, bows at No. 7 with 38,000 sold. The placement marks the band’s ninth top 10 album in a row. Not far behind is Musiq Soulchild’s MusiqInTheMagiq, which moved 35,000 units for a No. 8 seating. The sales figures is a far cry from his previous release, OnMyRadio, which shifted 91,000 copies in its first week.
