The infamous Sin City, which is home to many of our nation’s landmarks and most lucrative hotels and casinos, has now opened their city up to Michael Jackson to celebrate his life and music.
During the course of a press conference held earlier today, it has been confirmed that Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas will be the venue for a permanent Michael Jackson production. The confirmation came from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino President and Chief Operating Officer, Chuck Bowling, Cirque du Soleil President and CEO, Daniel Lamarre and Estate of Michael Jackson Co-Executor, John Branca. They also announced exciting new elements of their creative relationship in the conference which was held at the resort. Production is already under way to transform the resort’s theater for the show, which is slated to open its doors in spring 2013.
“The world may never again know a force in entertainment of the caliber of Michael Jackson. On behalf of the entire Mandalay Bay and MGM Resorts International teams, we are deeply honored and humbled to be home to incredible entertainment celebrating his legacy for new generations to come,” said Chuck Bowling.
Daniel Lamarre added, “We are excited about creating this new Michael Jackson production for Mandalay Bay. Michael Jackson is creatively inspiring for Cirque du Soleil artisans and creative teams. There are so many common creative elements between us that it is a pleasure to imagine this new production. It is also very exciting that we will be presenting Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour at Mandalay Bay for an extended run this December and Jamie King and the creative team are promising us a pop rock spectacular to kick things off grandly.”
In addition to the permanent Jackson production opening in 2013, the team plans to continue celebrating the life and legacy of the King of Pop through a multitude of elements like the Michael Jackson Lounge, Michael Jackson All Access, The Michael Jackson Fan Fest, and Michael Jackson the IMMORTAL World Tour.
Gone but never to be forgotten, the Michael Jackson Estate in conjunction with many partners intend on seeing Jackson remembered by fans for years to come.
