Former teen sensation Mark Wahlberg and current teen idol Justin Bieber will be working together for a new film, according to reports.
Wahlberg recently spoke about his commitment to develop the movie with Bieber. “We’re putting it together….We’re doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we’re talking about doing it,” Wahlberg said. “He loves the idea. He’s been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he’s really talented.”
The announcement of Bieber preparing for Wahlberg’s film will be his first acting role in a drama movie. “[It’s] more of a drama…kind of like a reluctant mentor in an inn-city environment,” Wahlberg described of the film.
The untitled film will revolve around street basketball and Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson will produce with Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun. The script will be written by Ian Edelman, creator of How to Make It in America.
Bieber had small acting cameos in True Jackson, VP, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Schools Gyrls, but the new project would be his debut role as a main character in a film drama.
