After a four year run, Kanye West’s non-profit organization, The Kanye West Foundation, is being forced to close its doors. The successful program which was geared at helping disadvantaged youth realize their dreams through the arts, was the vision of the late Donda West.
Recently, The New York Times stumbled upon an email that was allegedly sent by the foundation’s former executive director, Joseph Collins.
The email reads: “I am reaching out to let you know that the Kanye West Foundation (kanyewestfoundation.org) has officially closed it doors after a successful 4+ years of programming and events. It has been an incredible experience working with Kanye and the board to realize his mother’s vision and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Foundation.”
What caused the organization to make this decision? Kanye’s camp has yet to release a statement. When Collins was approached for further insight into the foundation’s status he said, “You’d have to get in touch with Mr. West.”
What factors could have contributed to the closing of such a successful non-profit organization?
