It is hard to believe that only a decade ago R&B phenom, Alicia Keys, appeared on the scene with “Songs in A Minor,” rocking her cornrows and larger-than-life voice.
It has been recently reported that the veteran is set to commemorate the multi-platinum selling album with a 10th Anniversary Deluxe and Collector’s Edition. To celebrate the re-release of the album that made her a household name, Keys also plans to give an intimate performance at New York’s famed Beacon Theatre.
“I’m so proud that the songs are still being enjoyed around the world, and I’m crazy excited to share, through the 10th Anniversary Edition, songs never heard before, and even more of my debut album with you,” she gushed.
The double-disc Deluxe and three-disc Collector’s editions will feature, in addition to songs fans are familiar with, a host of songs that didn’t make the original cut, new releases, and also a remix of “A Woman’s Worth” featuring Nas, the mixtape version of “Juiciest,” her song “Typewriter,” and many more.
Those who opt to purchase the Collector’s edition have a documentary created especially for the commemorative release to look forward to. The disc will document the making of the groundbreaking album, along with interviews with Keys and those who played an integral role in the album’s success.
“It’s incredibly surreal for me to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of ‘Songs in A Minor’,” she remarked. “Looking back on the journey, I’m truly moved by my fans and friends who’ve been with me and have supported me throughout my career. This album is possibly the most precious to me, as your first album only happens once, and so ‘Songs in A Minor’ will always hold a special place in my life that’s filled with amazing memories.”
The commemorative albums are set to be released June 28. Will you be getting your copy?
