The music world came to a standstill last week as one of the rap game’s most influential and iconic artists, Nathaniel Dwayne Hale otherwise known as Nate Dogg, died at the age of 41. The headliner will be laid to rest this Saturday on the 26th. A ceremony held at the Long Beach Airport will precede the event.
Also, a memorial benefit concert, hosted by DJ Quik, will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center to honor the legend.
Close friend Warren G recently told the press, “I was out on the Sweat Tour with Snoop, and we had got the word from his family on what was going on, and it was just a crushing blow for us.” He goes on to say, “Just from going to see him and lifting his spirits up when he was in therapy and stuff like that, it’s just crazy for that to happen. And I still don’t believe it, you know what I’m saying?”
Warren G speaks about how surreal it was to see Nate Dogg t-shirts for sale at the SXSW tribute show. “It kind of hurts me when I look at this shirt, it’s like, ‘Damn, that’s my homeboy on this shirt.’ And I’m hurting, and you know, a lot of people are showing tons of support for his family, for his homeboys, and we really and truly appreciate that. It’s real love.”
This West Coast mastermind will truly be missed by friends, family, fans, and throughout the music industry.
