Due in April, it has been reported that pop diva, Mariah Carey will be expecting boy and girl twins. Carey recently revealed the exciting news to the Life & Style publication.
Carey says, “Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender-neutral because I didn’t want to impose an identity on them too soon. There were fan contests on Twitter about what gender they are and rumors about them being two boys or two girls – but nobody guessed this!”
She was definitely right; nor could anyone guess that President Barack Obama would be the first to hear the news about the expecting mother. The icon convinced husband and actor Nick Cannon to keep mum about the gender of the twins until after their meeting with the President and First Lady.
While at TNTâs Christmas in Washington, which happened late last year (Dec 2010), Cannon was unable to contain his excitement and announced the secret to the President.
“She was the one that was like, ‘Wouldn’t that be a great story to be able to share with our children that the first people to know that they were going to be twins was the President and the First Lady’,” reveals the dad-to-be.
Cannon goes on to comment that it seemed as if Obama knew what he was going to tell him. It was reported that the President opened the conversation with, “Is it true you’re expecting twins?”
Carey seems to be following in the footsteps of fellow diva Jennifer Lopez, who unexpectedly gave birth to mixed-sex twins Emme and Max two years ago. Fans of Carey and Cannon alike are surely anticipating the birth of these superstar babies.
