SINGERSROOM ROUNDS: Willow Platinum, Jay-Z Going Hollywood, Monica Fires Back

After launching her music career in the fall of 2010 with the release of her debut single “Whip My Hair” and signing to Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation, Willow’s hard work is already paying off as she earns her first RIAA platinum certification. “Whip My Hair” peaked at #11 on the Billboard 100 and #5 on the Billboard R&B charts, making Willow one of the youngest solo artists in history to accomplish such a feat.

Rap mogul Sean ‘Jay-Z’ Carter has joined forces with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment to develop and produce major motion pictures. The first project on the table is the reproduction of the classic Broadway musical “Annie,” which will be started by Willow Smith. JAY-Z previously sampled the classic Annie song “It’s the Hard Knock Life” in his chart-busting single “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).” Jay says, “The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision. We’ve already produced a Tony Award winning play and we’re developing a true superstar in Willow. This venture into film development and production is a perfect next step with teams that are accomplished, creative, and innovative.”

R&B singer Monica is fed up with an anonymous person who continues to through dirty on her and her family’s name. Responding on Twitter today, the songstress writes, “Warning: A lot of fake, false, fabricated emails going around about me & my loved ones. However we KNOW who’s sending them,” later adding “I’m sure you’re laughing but the same things that make you laugh, make you cry. It is a slow process but you will suffer the repercussions of your childish actions SOON.” According to the rumors, Monica allegedly married and moved in with NBA star Shannon Brown because she was homeless.
