Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin’s battle with an unknown illness, reported to be pancreatic cancer, has been making headlines for months now. Fans and followers alike have anxiously awaited the divas full recovery. After telling Jet Magazine “the problem has been resolved,” Franklin called in to the Wendy Williams Show earlier this week from her home in Detroit to speak on her health and more.
Franklin received a thunderous applause as she informed the studio audience that, âMy health is superb.â The songstress told Williams that she is currently recovering in a hotel because she needed a change of scenery. Franklin happily said, âI do have two more weeks of down time before I can get out.â
Williams asked, once a full recovery is made does Franklin plan to reschedule the canceled tour dates. The Queen of Soul told audiences, âOh absolutely! All of the dates that I had to cancel: Radio City, Kansas City, Washington, and Virginia will be rescheduled right off the top.â
The icon was tight-lipped when Williams asked her about the rumored man in her life but she did confirm that she is seeing someone.
She goes on to talk about R. Kelly’s hot new hit single “When a Woman Loves.” She says, âAny woman who has ever been in love will readily relate to that song. He is singing that song! If he isnât careful I might become a cougar.â
As the interview neared a close, Franklin mentioned the lead actress scheduled to play the diva in her anticipated biopic. Franklin said for the last four years they have been receiving offers from actresses wanting to play the singer but none of them were good offers. She finally revealed that, âHalle Berry is my pickâ and they are still selecting an actress to play the young Aretha.
