Michael Jackson, “Michael” (Epic) Surrounded by a lot of controversy, including unauthorized artwork, fake vocals, and artist like bashing its release, Michael Jackson’s first posthumous album, ‘Michael,’ hit stores today. The set is lead by “Breaking News,” “Hold My Hand” featuring Akon, “Monster” featuring 50 Cent and “Much Too Soon,” which was recorded in the “Thriller” days. “He wanted to put out music that was positive enough to bring the world together,” Akon states about Hold My Hand. Lets just hope Jackson’s millions of fans around the world feel the same. R. Kelly, “Love Letter” (Jive) After releasing his compilation album, ‘Epic,’ this past September, R. Kelly issues his 11th studio album, ‘Love Letter.’ The set will be preceded by the soulful ballad “When a Woman Loves” and the follow-up single “Love Letter,” both produced by Kelly. On the track “Number One Hit,” he used Jackson as a metaphor, telling his love “You are my Michael Jackson ‘Thriller.'” R. Kelly has sold more than 34 million records worldwide, released seven No. 1 albums and twelve multi-platinum-selling albums, and has charted eleven No. 1 singles. Kandi, “Kandi Koated” (Warner) Former Xscape member Kandi unleashes her sophomore solo effort Kandi ‘Koated.’ Dubbed “a relationship CD,” ‘Kandi Koated’ features production by Neyo, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. Additionally, her former Xscape bandmate Tiny makes an appearance on the track “Superwoman.” “This is definitely going to be a more personal record. It’s mostly about relationships,” Kandi recently stated. “And not just about a man with a woman but life’s relationships. In particular, a record that means the world to me is called ‘Leroy Jones,’ it’s about my stepfather. He is an incredible man and has meant so much to me over the years so I wanted to honor him.” Tank, “Now or Never” (Atlantic) R&B crooner Tank drops his new album, ‘Now or Never,’ the follow up to 2007’s ‘Sex, Love & Pain,’ and boast collaborations from Chris Brown and rapper Drake. “It’s the right time…December 14th is going to be a major day for R&B,” Tank tells Singersroom.
