According to various news sources, Queen of Soul Aretha Franklinâs unidentified Illness is pancreatic cancer. Franklin, who underwent a “successful” surgery in a Detroit, Michigan hospital to treat the mystery ailment, has had people around the world wondering what was wrong with her. She refused to share details about the cause of her illness, but thanked fans for their support after the operation on Thursday (Dec 2.). “The surgery was highly successful. God is still in control,â Franklin said in a statement. âI had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. God bless you all for your prayers!” In contrary, new reports surfaced on Wednesday (Dec. 18) suggesting Franklin, 68, has been diagnosed with cancer. Relatives allegedly shared the sad story with The Detroit News and Fox 2 News. Franklin found herself at the center of much speculation recently after doctors ordered her to cancel all concert dates and personal appearances scheduled until May 2011.
