Billboard unleashed a new chart dubbed Social 50, which ranks the most active artists on the world’s leading social networking sites, and in itâs first week, R&B singer Rihanna takes the crown. The âRude Boyâ singer is followed by teen sensation Justin Bieber in second place and rapper Eminem in third. “We continue to adapt the way we chart the changing landscape of music,” Billboard Editorial Director, Bill Werde, said of the new chart. “The Social 50 is yet another step in the evolution of Billboard and an important response to our changing times.” In ranking the artists, Billboard uses a unique metric that includes weekly page views and song plays on such social sites like MySpace, iLike, YouTube and Facebook. Rihannaâs No. 1 ranking position may be due to her two hit singles “Only Girl (In The World)” and “What’s My Name?,” currently in rotation. Top 10 Social 50 Artists: 1. Rihanna 2. Justin Bieber 3.
