R&B crooner Donell Jones, who is currently on a promotional tour supporting his recent release âLyrics,â is excited to be holding his own with a new generation of music lovers who appreciate real music. ‘Lyrics’ peaked at number #28 on Billboardâs Top 200 album chart and is currently #5 with a bullet on the Urban AC Radio charts. Despite a 3 year absence from recording, Jones is right back where he wants to be, on the airwaves sharing his music with his fans. âThere are a few artists out there I really like that are doing their thing,â Jones states in a release to Singersroom. âTo me, thereâs too many people trying to be R&B thugs. Itâs almost like the R&B game has become almost like the new R&B/rap game. Thereâs no more love in the music.” Donell Jones has always given fans sensual ballads. After a tumultuous split with his label in the late 90âs, Jones took some time away from the spotlight to focus on his life and his music. The result of his sabbatical was the restructuring of his team. Jones signed with a new manager, Ruben Rodriguez of RAM Talent Group and launched Candyman Music, his own label imprint thru eOne distribution. His first release late last year âThe Lost Filesâ was a compilation of unreleased songs that he had recorded since the beginning of his career. âLyricsâ is his first showing on the charts since the 1999 âU Know Whatâs Upâ and âWhere I Wanna Be.â Catch Donell Jones near you: 10/30 â New York, NY â WBLS Circle of Sisters (More info forthcoming) 11/06 â Washington, DC â WPGC Sister Only Expo (More info forthcoming) 12/12 â Dallas, TX â KRNB 2010 Kwanzaafest
