R&B singer Monica and Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown are engaged. According to sandrarose.com, Shannon proposed to Monica last Tuesday in front of both sets of parent and gave her a beautiful 10 carat ring. Monica wore the ring during her recent performance at the 5th Annual Black Girls Rock Awards. A family member, who wished to remain anonymous, told sandrarose.com that Brown wanted to propose to Monica in front of their parents because âthey wanted it to be private and intimate and amongst family because family is most important to them.â The newly engaged couple met in June of this year on the set of Monicaâs video for âLove All Over Me.â Even though they are engaged, Monica has said that they both will continue their courtship, so a wedding should not be expected any time soon. Monica is said to be extremely happy and is telling her friends that she has ânever ever everâ been treated with such love and respect by a man, and is stress free because Brown doesnât hang out in nightclubs. Monicaâs entire family will meet Shannon at her 30th birthday bash this Sunday in Los Angeles, and their children will meet for the first time. The birthday bash will have a pink carpet and all proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.
