In a recent interview with radio personality Max, while in the UK promoting his upcoming album Libra Scale, R&B singer Ne-Yo was asked his opinion on music from his peers (Usher, Trey Songz and Chris Brown), since he is in the same category as them. Regarding Usher and the success he has garnered since releasing confessions: âSuccess is a gift and a curse. Usher put out âConfessionsâ and did 10 million units, maybe more than that across the world,â Ne-Yo says. â10 million in the states alone, which is an accomplishment; an achievement. And the album was flawless top to bottom. So now everything that you do after that has got to be as good as that for me. You canât put out top quality grade A and then gimme Bâs and Câs after that, I canât accept it. The Raymond vs. Raymond album isnât a bad album but itâs not âConfessionsâ. So even though I may like some of the stuff that is going on right now, itâs not âConfessionsâ. Ne-Yo went on to say people are going to take this the wrong way and spin it but there is no drama with him and Usher. âAgain, I donât want nobody to think I got beef with Usher,â he says. âIf I donât like something personally, Iâm gonna say that; I have no beef with Usher.â As far as Trey Songz, Ne-Yo says Trey has always been talented. âI feel like Trey has been dope for a really really long time and people just now started paying attention,â Ne-Yo says about the I Invented Sex star. âIn my personal opinion, I think he has one of the best voices in the game. He definitely knows what he is doing in regards to R&B and Iâm glad that he found his niche; the sexy guy. Thatâs his thing. Everybody comes in and find there niche; Iâm the gentleman and heâs the sexy guy; Iâm happy for that dude.â When asked if Chris Brown could ever return to the glory he once had, Ne-Yo decided not to comment on the young superstar. âMe and Chris are in a place right now,â says Ne-Yo. âIt has nothing to do with his music, itâs a more personal thing, so Iâm not even gonna comment on Chris. Iâm gonna let Chris be Chris and me be me. Never will it be said that Ne-Yo said anything about Chris Brown.â Ne-Yo then finishes of the question with âknow who your real friends are,â confirming that there is beef between him and Chris Brown.
