Janet Jackson proved to be a box-office draw in Tyler Perry’s ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?” earlier this year. Now the “Make Me” singer is responsible for setting records for Essence magazine’s forthcoming Essence Music Festival. According to published reports, Jackson, who as previously reported headlines one of three concerts in New Orleans in July, sold out a show in not days or hours but minutes. Excited about the forthcoming show, which takes place during fourth of July weekend, Jackson told fans that she’s also happy to be covering Essence this summer. “It was a pleasure shooting my upcoming cover with Essence Magazine today,” Jackson told fans Thursday. “I hope u will enjoy the issue.” In related news, Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige will headline the other two nights of Essence Music Festival’s concert series at the Superdome in New Orleans.
