News Bits: Bailey Rae To Produce, Braxton Claims Sexist, Wade’s Wife Jailed, Tyra Books

Soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae wants to start producing other people’s records – beginning with her band. “I’d like to produce and I’d like to record my band’s album at some point, she tells Playlist. “I never thought I’d be into that but I love developing music now.” Bailey Rae is currently touring, promoting her latest outing, The Sea. R&B diva Toni Braxton, who just released her 6th studio album, titled Pulse, says the music industry is sexist and male-dominated, insisting female singers are not given the same respect as men. “It’s still hard for female performers in the music business – it’s still very sexist,” she tells Britain’s Daily Star. “If you have an opinion you just get patted on the head. And if you’re passionate about something, they say, ‘It must be her time of the month.’ A guy is a dude for expressing himself, but a girl is being a little b**tch.” Braxton hopes strong female role models like Lady Gaga will help break down barriers in the music industry and make the business more equal. The estranged wife of Dwayne Wade was reportedly locked up Tuesday after missing a hearing in their bitter public divorce battle. Wade, who is currently dating actress Gabrielle Union, has been embroiled in divorce proceedings with Siohvaughn Wade, the mother of his two children, since 2007. Union was dragged into the feud last week when Siohvaughn filed suit against Dwyane, accusing him of engaging in “sexual foreplay” with the actress in front of their two sons, aged eight and two. Siohvaughn turned up to court on Tuesday morning, claiming a car accident on Monday had prohibited her from attending the earlier hearing but the judge refused to accept her excuse for the no-show and jailed her with a bail at $10,000, reports Supermodel turned media princess Tyra Banks is expanding her business portfolio after signing a three-book deal with Delacorte Press for a series of books aimed at young adults, entitled Modelland. Banks’ first book is scheduled to hit shelves next summer.
