Leela James To Host BET Special ‘My Black Is Beautiful’

Soulful singer Leela James will celebrate beauty when she co-hosts a forthcoming several part series on BET ! Joining Tasha Smith (‘Why Did I Get Married’), Kim Coles and Alesha Renee, Leela James will co-host the second season of BET’s successful “My Black Is Beautiful” television series. Kicking off May 2, 2010, ‘My Black Is Beautiful’ will air Sundays at 1:00 PM EST — an extension of Proctor & Gamble’s My Black Is Beautiful campaign to celebrate Black beauty and uplift the images of African-American women. According to organizers, “My Black Is Beautiful” will remain an energetic, interactive and informative series that celebrates the unique and dynamic qualities of the African-American woman. Also presenting a national forum for Black women to talk about their most important beauty, health and quality-of-life issues, ‘My Black Is Beautiful’ will provide advice and tips on fitness, health and wellness as well as fashion and pop culture trends. In related news, Leela James will release her latest effort, titled My Soul, on May 25, 2010 via Stax Records/Concord Music Group. Led by the single “Tell Me You Love Me,” a soulful track that she co-wrote with Andrea Martin and Gordon Williams, the album features rap and hip-hop producer Gerrard Baker (Toni Braxton, Billy Crawford, Masta Ace).
