Lady Gaga and Beyonce are no longer nipping at Mariah Carey’s long held pop songs record, the duo has officially tied the World Music Award winning diva thanks to “Telephone”. Reaching no.1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart this week, “Telephone” becomes both Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s sixth no.1 single on the chart, matching Carey’s coveted six chart-topping singles achieved between 1993 and 2005. While the feat is great for both artists, Lady Gaga’s success on the pop songs chart is perhaps the fastest and most thorough climb. In just over a year, six of Lady Gaga’s singles reached no.1 on the pop chart, including “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” LoveGame,” “Paparazzi,” recent hit “Bad Romance” and the freshly crowned “Telephone”. Beyonce’s six no.1 hits include “Crazy In Love,” “Baby Boy,” “Check On It,” “Irreplaceable,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and “Telephone”.
