K Jon Downs Usher, Aims For Blige On The Ocean

Universal/Republic singer/songwriter K’Jon has set a new record with the celebrated single “On The Ocean” ! According to Billboard, the Detroit native’s hit 2009 single has spent a record 72 weeks on the R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. Surpassing Usher’s 1997 breakthrough single “You Make Me Wanna,” K’Jon’s “On The Ocean” is now the longest chart run ever for a male artist (in R&B/Hip Hop) Currently at no.49 on the R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, K’Jon’s “On The Ocean” could very well top the chart’s record holder, Mary J. Blige, whose 2005 hit “Be Without You” spent 75 weeks on the chart. “On The Ocean” has had similar success on the Urban AC chart, where it held down the top spot for several weeks. “On The Ocean” led K’Jon’s Universal/ Republic debut “I Get Around,” released August 2009.
