The former basist for R&B/Hip-hop star Lauryn Hill was found dead in his car in Oakland, California. Dewey Tucker was discovered behind the wheel of his vehicle about 9:55 p.m. on westbound Highway 80 just west of Cummings Skyway in an unincorporated part of Contra Costa County with a gunshot wound to his head on Tuesday night (Jan 12). According to police, the 24 year old was traveling to a practice session when he was shot and killed. A guitar was found in his car. They also said it appears to have been a random act of violence “We believe that itâs a random act of just senseless violence at this point,” California Highway Patrol sergeant Trent Cross said, adding that the victim was a âgood, upstanding citizen.” currently no motive or suspects have been established by authorities. The musician also performed for rap group The Coup and was a member of the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church band in Oakland. Tucker is survived by a fiancee, whose name has not been released to the press.
