Whitney Houston, Latifah ‘Extraordinary’ For BET Honors

Whitney Houston and Queen Latifah are two of five leading luminaries set to be honored at BET’s third annual BET Honors ! Set to be recognized for their accomplishments, Houston and Latifah join fellow honorees Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, accomplished educator Ruth Simmons, and renowned neurosurgeon Keith Black. “Celebrating the 30(th) anniversary of BET Networks this year, we are so proud to present the third annual BET Honors, a show celebrating the life works and accomplishments of inspiring African Americans,” said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, BET Networks. “Each of our celebrants are dedicated to reaching back to help bring more forward and represent integrity, perseverance, fortitude and outsized talent. Music, merriment and memories are only a small part of BET Honors. We also hope to encourage our viewers to embody and emulate the passion and drive of these individuals.” Paying tribute to this year’s honorees, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, India.Arie, Patti LaBelle, and ELEW are set to give riveting performances. Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Ruth Simmons, and Keith Black join previous honorees Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson. With Gabrielle Union returning as the evening’s host, the 3rd Annual BET Honors are set to air February 1 at 8pm on BET.
