Michael Jackson and Susan Boyle top both Chris Brown and Kanye West on the just revealed Associated Press top 2009 entertainment stories list. Coming in at no.1, the shocking death of Michael Jackson was voted top entertainment story of the year due to the fact that it ‘reverberated in many ways,’ reports the Associated Press. “There was the ongoing investigation: Jackson’s death was ruled a homicide, and his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who says he’s innocent of wrongdoing, is being investigated for manslaughter,” reports Associated Press. “There was the gigantic Los Angeles funeral. There was the documentary, ‘This Is It,’ of Jackson’s preparations for a comeback concert series. But, perhaps most of all, there was the celebration of his music, on stages and sidewalks the world over.” Susan Boyle, noted for record breaking success towards the end of the year, made the no.2 spot on the list due to the mega selling album “I Dreamed A Dream”. But, it was Chris Brown and Kanye West, both notably controversial music stars who took the biggest falls in 2009. According to the Associated Press, controversies surrounding those two landed enough votes to end up at no.6 and no.7 on the list respectively. Walter Cronkite’s death; David Letterman’s affair; Kate and Jon Gosselin; and the rise in live video on the web also made the list.
