While reviews of Mariah Carey’s role in ‘Precious’ have been positive, Carey says her glam squad was not enthused about her look in the film. Speaking of her look, which came from the Golden Globe nominated film’s director Lee Daniels, Carey says Daniels said “Look, Iâm going to make you under and over, your hair and whatever, and youâre just going to have to deal with it. Iâm going to put you under fluorescent lighting.” While Carey was thrilled to work on the film with Daniels, who she had worked with prior in ‘Tennessee,’ she goes on to tell Kam Williams. “That overhead lighting was not my friend, and neither was the hair. Someone who normally does my makeup described it as a Mariah Carey nightmare. But in the end, it turned out to be a great gift Lee gave me to be able to go that far away from who I really am.” ‘Precious,’ since its lauded arrival at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, has been nominated for numerous accolades, including recent nods for SAG and Golden Globe Awards.
