Imagine your father being paid to talk about you but, having the nerve to avoid speaking with you… According to “Rated R” diva Rihanna, that is exactly what transpired with her father when news broke of her plight in February (at the hands of Chris Brown). “He kind of did something that was really upsetting. He turned his back on me and went to the media. He got paid to talk about stuff â all these little interviews he was doing after the whole situation in February,” Rihanna told Ryan Seacrest recently. Contrary to statements issued by her father to press earlier this year, mostly concerning her well being, thoughts and actions after splitting with Chris Brown, Rihanna says her father has not spoken to her all year. “I hadnât spoken to him and he was speaking as though we did. It was so disappointing to me,” she says. “I havenât heard from my father in over a year. I try though, I reached out to him. I did my part. Now itâs on him.” Speaking with Diane Sawyer during a heavily watched interview in November, Rihanna brought to light a past full of abuse at the hands of her father. While she did not state whether or not her father abused her directly, she did point out that her “dad” hit her mother in Barbados and at one point broke her nose. Moving forward, Rihanna remains focused on “Rated R”. Released November 23, the album debuted at no.4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, moving 181,000 copies.
