R&B singer Usher continues to rise despite receiving criticism for his decision to release the single “Papers” ahead of an album titled “Raymond Vs. Raymond”. Named a Top Airplay Gainer for the third consecutive week, Usher’s “Papers” moved another seven spots to reach no.5 on the R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart (12-5) this week. Also leaping sixty-two spots on the Hot 100 (92-31) and debuting at no.34 on the Digital Songs chart, Usher’s “Papers” continues to move, even the in the wake of recent comments from estranged wife Tameka Raymond. Raymond, the believed subject of the song, which talks about filing divorce papers (as was done in June of 2009), recently spoke with PEOPLE. Recognizing the song as entertainment, Raymond told the magazine “It’s entertainment. People shouldn’t take it literally (But) given what we’re going through, it’s in poor taste.” As previously reported on Singersroom, Usher’s next album, “Raymond Vs. Raymond,” is due for release late 2009.
