Stop the track! Jean Paul Gaultier, the designer who designed Madonna’s pointy bra and styled Beyonce is coming to a rack near you. Gaultier is the latest designer collaborating with Target for their Go International capsule collections. The line will hit 250 Target stores across the country and the web on March 7th. Alexander McQueen and Anna Sui also designed lines for the big box retailer recently. Each designer is asked to choose a muse for their collections and Gaultier chose the American woman as his saying the collection will give a nod to moments in pop culture. We here in New York are Target challenged, but they’re opening a pop-up-shop here so that we can get the collection which may or may not include pointy bras. We’re waiting with baited breath.
In other capsule collection news, Jimmy Choo, the shoe brand that Carrie Bradshaw made famous, is designing a collection of men’s and women’s clothes, shoes and accessories for H&M. The line will hit stores on November 14. Tamara Mellon, Jimmy Choo’s President said of the woman that she designed the collection for, “It’s the same woman [who is the inspiration for Choo’s] fall collection. She’s rock ‘n’ roll, a little punk.” The shoes are all made of leather, there are bondage-inspired high-heel sandals for evening, strappy studded gladiators for day and stretch leather over-the-knee boots meant to be worn with a short skirt or dress. Many pieces are inspired by styles that have been in the collection, such as an oversize leather clutch with gold hardware, an embellished zebra-striped pochette for evening and platform sandals. You can find me in line on November 14 at the flagship H&M on Fifth Avenue. I’m beyond excited for this one. —— By: Cynthia G. Caban
