Grammy Award winning duo Mary Mary remains no.1 on the Gospel charts some nine months after the release of “The Sound”. Led by the single “Get Up” and followed by the current chart topping hit “God In Me,” Mary Mary’s “The Sound” is the group’s fourth studio album and perhaps most successful to date. According to Columbia, “The Sound” has occupied the no.1 slot on the Billboard Gospel Album chart for more than six months and in fact, retains the spot this week. But it is the current single, “God In Me” that seems to be connecting with fans and recording artists including Queen Latifah. Featuring Kierra ‘Kiki’ Sheard, “God In Me,” perhaps the first Gospel record to utilize auto-tune, continues Mary Mary’s vision of blending hip-hop, soul, funk and pop elements with the power and conviction of their message. “God In Me” is currently no.1 on Billboard’s Gospel Songs chart and no. 16 on the R&B/Hip Hop Songs tally.
