There was a tight race on Billboard’s 200 album chart between Jordin Sparks, Maxwell and the Black Eyed Peas over the last week. While the race began tight, Wednesday’s final results put Maxwell on top with 72,000 copies of his “BLACKsummers’night” moved at retail. Led by “Pretty Wings,” Maxwell’s album held down the no.3 spot on the Billboard 200, after spending over three weeks on the chart. Unlike Maxwell, Jordin Sparks’ debuted fresh on this week’s chart. Releasing the sophomore effort “Battlefield,” Sparks moved a reported 48,000 copies to earn a spot at no.7. In comparison, Sparks’ Grammy-nominated self titled debut arrived with 119,00 copies moved in 2007. The Black Eyed Peas round out three of this week’s feature movers and shakers on the Billboard 200. Their album, titled “The E.N.D.,” slipped down to no. 6 with 52,000 copies sold. Watch out for Fabolous’ new album “Loso’s Way” on next week’s Billboard 200 in addition to updates on the aforementioned releases.
