Whitney Houston says “I Look To You,” her first album in over six years, will allow fans a glimpse into changes she has made for the better. “I just think that the songs themselves will speak to you when you hear them and you’ll understand where I am (and) some of the changes I’ve gone through for the better,” Houston told ET Tuesday. Houston’s new album, due in stores September 1, features production from Swizz Beatz, R. Kelly, Akon, Diane Warren and more. Several songs on the album, including “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” “A Song For You” and the title track “I Look To You,” showcase Houston’s vocal strength. According to BET’s Clay Cane, Houston’s “I Look To You” is one of the best songs on the album. “Her voice is deeply powerful, channeling classic Whitney with a pop sense but an R&B vocal. This song proves that she has not lost her voice and itâs definitely a melody I cannot wait to hear live. Whitney clearly feels every line and chord, charging through the ballad, transcending her own experience and reaching others who have been through adversity,” says Cane. “I Look To You” arrives in stores and digital retailers September 1.
