Michael Jackson’s hit album “Thriller” is likely to surpass records only attained by the Eagles if sales of the effort continue at the current pace. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the King of Pop’s album is just one million copies away from tying with the Eagles record of 29 million copies of “Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975′ package. At press time Jackson’s “Thriller” was certified 28 times Platinum, which equates to 28 million copies moved. With the King of Pop’s untimely death and recent surge in album sales, including “Thriller” and “Off The Wall,” the effort could very well reach and surpass the 29 times platinum mark by years end. According to Billboard, “Thriller’ has sold 608,000 copies this year.
