Ciara is headed back to school thanks to a partnership with Staples and Do Something.org. The R&B singer/songwriter, touring in support of 2009s “Fantasy Ride,” will take part in a number of pre 2009-2010 school year activities and fundraisers including a recently filmed PSA for ‘Do Something 101’. Citing 13 million U.S. schoolchildren in need of school supplies such as notebooks, writing utensils, and other important items, Ciara can also be seen on ‘Do Something’s official Facebook campaign. Joining previous celebrity participants including Jordin Sparks (2008), Ciara’s partnership with the campaign encourages students to get involved in collecting school supplies and money. But this time the campaign is getting a social edge with both a Facebook page and Facebook app, courtesy of youth-oriented interactive agency Mr. Youth. As they did last year, participants can still run supplies collection drives in their schools or buy school supplies on their own, dropping off donations at Staples stores around the country between July 5 and September 19. Also as last year, Staples is teaming up with DoSomething.org, a non-profit group organizing teens to make contributions to their communities. Ciara will also be on hand to assist in stuffing backpacks in New York this summer. One lucky participant, who completes a series of challenges at Do Something’s Facebook page, will join Ciara..
