Christina Aguilera just became one of the first artists signed to a new Clear Channel radio network. Thanks to the recently inked deal Aguilera, known widely for singles like “Hurt” and “The Voice Within,” will have her own show on Clear Channel’s new A.P.E. network. Short for Artist Personal Experience, APE, is a standalone company that will allow Aguilera to produce her own online radio show featuring commentary, music and interviews. The network, also featuring Weezer and the Eagles, is expected to launch in July with assistance from local Clear Channel stations. “We want artists to host the channels, tell stories and turn new fans on to new music,” Evan Harrison, president of Clear Channel’s digital division and CEO of a.p.e. radio told Billboard. Aguilera’s radio show comes just in time for her highly anticipated follow up to 2006s “Back To Basics”. Expected to feature a new sound and much experimentation, Aguilera says “I’m experimenting with my voice in ways I’ve never done before, almost like a technical, computer-generated sound, which is different for me because I’m the type of vocalist that just belts” The as-yet-untitled album is slated for release fall 2009.
