Behind the make up, perfume, and high heels Keri Hilson says women, including herself, are hiding what’s really going on inside. “I wanted women to relate to what I sing,” Hilson tells News of the World. “We put on a mask of make up, perfume, and high heels but the more we put on, the more we hide what’s going on inside.” Hilson, whose album “In A Perfect World” is holding strong on the R&B/Hip Hop chart, has penned songs for everyone from Britney Spears to Usher. Underneath though, she’ll admit she’s just as much of a hopeless romantic as anyone else. “I’m a hopeless romantic and I make the same mistake over and over and over again — the one that all women make of trying to paint Mr. Wrong into Mr. Right,” the “Turnin’ Me On” singer shares. “We’re so hopeful that we can change someone who may not be so good for us and we never can.” For Keri Hilson, at least, her frustration, when it comes to love, has the outlet of song. In fact, it comes straight through the pen. “It’s what I do for a living now. I get to put it all in my songs.”
