The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul Mary J. Blige has inked a new deal that not only solidifies the forthcoming expansion of her entertainment company Matriarch but, also pits her business with that of Alicia Keys, 50 Cent and Taylor Swift. Blige, soon to debut in Hollywood via Tyler Perry’s “I Can Do Bad All By Myself,” signed a deal with the William Morris Agency recently after being repped by ICM for sometime. William Morris Agency, which also reps Eminem and Rihanna, will assist Blige, who in recent years has racked up several endorsement deals with GM (General Motors) and growing cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter, with forthcoming projects. In related news, the “Breakthrough” Grammy-winner is backing the first artist under her Matriarch imprint named Dave Young. Young, a talented R&B singer who also joined Blige on tour in 2006 and is featured on the “Breakthrough” track “Alone,” has a recording out titled “Drinkin Smokin” feat. 50 Cent. Young is joined by singer Laneah at Matriarch, helmed by Blige and husband Kendu Isaacs. Listen to “Drinkin’ Smokin” here.
