Mathew Knowles has come to his daughters defense again, this time itâs for older sister Beyonce after an alleged recording of her performing âIf I Were A Boyâ from a November 2008 Today show concert lacked vocal ability. The recording spread like wildfire, with many quick to accuse both Beyoncé and Sasha Fierce of being awful live singers who hide behind pre-recorded tracks. However, Bâs father and manager argued that the tape seemed âobviously altered,â and TMZ confirmed the tape was significantly doctored to make Beyoncé sound bad. âAt 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability. That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot,â Knowles said. He went on to tell E! News, “If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them. If no one took the time to listen to Beyoncé sing ‘America the Beautiful’ and ‘At Last’ at the Neighborhood Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyoncé’s vocal ability, they’ve got to be an idiot.â Beyonce was asked about the tape during a press junket for her upcoming film Obsessed, and while she hadnât heard the supposed recording, the story behind it âsounds completely ridiculous,â she said. TMZ caught up with the tweaker of the vocals, who told them, âItâs a little bit crazy. No one in their right mind would sound like that, and no one would cheer for someone singing like that.â Donât worry B, We didn’t believe it for a second.
