While Chris Brown attempts to dance through felony charges in Los Angeles, Screen Gems is forced to move ahead with its anticipated blockbuster “Takers” (formerly titled “Bone Deep”). According to the studio, the Brown and T.I. featured film has been set for release January 8, 2010 and will face off with both Miley Cyrus and Ethan Hawke vehicles to be released the same day. As previously reported on Singersroom, Brown filmed “Takers” in late 2008 but, in light of his legal woes it is unclear whether the studio will use Brown’s image to promote the film. While Brown is considered a major star for the film, Screen Gems is in luck as the film also also stars Matt Dillon, Hayden Christensen and Idris Elba, who are expected to be hot at the box office this year with films including “Obsessed,” “Armored” and “Quantum Quest”. T.I., also dealing with legal woes is due to appear in the film and may or may not be available to promote the project in January due to a 1 year, 1 day sentence handed down in March. ‘Takers’ follows a group of bank robbers pulled into one last job by a recently paroled cohort, only to be pitted against a detective who interrupts their $20 million heist. ‘Takers’ will open in theateres January 8, 2010. Will you support the film even if Chris Brown promotes it ?
