Once controversially embattled singer/songwriter BC Jean, known for penning Beyonce’s 2008 hit “If I Were A Boy,” has landed a record deal ! Jean, a hit making songwriter, was signed to J Records this week. Often recognized for her work on Beyonce’s 2008 album “I Am… Sasha Fierce,” Jean reportedly has a slew of songs penned for her debut, due later this year. News of Jean’s recording contract with J Records comes weeks after being heavily pursued by several record labels. According to J Records, BC Jean’s debut already includes work with Dallas Austin (Gwen Stefani, Pink), The Matrix (Christina Aguilera) and Toby Gad (Fergie, Beyonce). “You eagerly wait for a multi-talented new artist to come along like BC Jean. She’s already proven her major songwriting ability. And, what’s more, she’s got a truly powerful voice with edge and natural soulfulness. We’re all really delighted that BC has chosen us as her musical home,” says CCO of Sony Music Entertainment, Clive Davis.
